Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow—so we’re in for six more weeks of winter! While that means extra snow days and cozy nights, it also means dry air and sneaky dehydration. Staying hydrated helps us stay warm, improves immune function and reduces fatigue. It’s difficult to drink cold water in chilly weather, so here are some warm, fun ways to keep hydrated!

Warm Apple Cider:

Heat up 100% apple juice with a dash of cinnamon for a cozy treat. Let kids stir with a cinnamon stick for extra fun!

Herbal Tea Party:

Chamomile or fruit teas make hydration feel like a special event. Make it a party and invite a few Teddy Bear guests!

Healthier Hot Chocolate

Warm your choice of milk (almond, soy, 1% milk) with cocoa powder and add a touch of maple syrup and vanilla to keep kids hydrated while feeling like a treat. See recipe here!

Soups & Broths:

Lower sodium chicken noodle soup, veggie & bone broth or mild miso soup pack hydration into mealtimes.

Lemon Honey Water:

Warm water with lemon and a tad of honey is soothing to help coat a sore throat, and great for little winter sniffles.

Simple Hydration Hacks:

Fun mugs, silly straws and modeling good habits make drinking warm liquids more exciting.

So, while we wait for spring, let’s keep our little ones warm, cozy and happily hydrated!
